Ashla Townsend wakes up after a terrifying car crash to find herself in an alternate reality. The New York city she has come to love is the same. The trains continue to run on the L line and the planes continue to take off and land at JFK. But Ashla is the only living soul in this eerie and desolate cityscape. Just when she has convinced herself that she is completely insane, she confronted by two dark warriors intent on killing each other.

Trace is a highly ranked adviser to the rulers of his people, the Shadowdwellers. On top of that, his foster father is the leader of their religious sect. A conspiracy is brewing to overthrow the government and Trace appears to be the first target. He manages to kill his would be assassin, but he is gravely injured in the process. Ashla manages to heal him and in the process cements a bond between that only death can break.

I picked up Jacquelyn Frank's Ecstasy because it popped up in my Amazon recommendations. And I must say the book was a delight! There is just the right mix of romance, betrayal, sex and intrigue to keep you on your toes for the entire book. Esctasy is the start of a new series and Frank manages to end Trace and Ashla's story while setting up the next volume rather nicely. I recommend checking out The Shadowdwellers and its companion series The Nightwalkers. If you enjoy reading Jayne Castle, Sherrilyn Kenyon or Kresley Cole, you will most definitely enjoy Jacquelyn Frank!

Tissie
